What Actually Happened In Q1

Did I complete the RRCM? Nope! Turns out, writing a highly emotional story about loss and being failed by and failing your family, yes even the found one, is Not Easy when paired with things like the tail end of winter and living in the united states right now.

Feral Godmother did gain some words on its week to do so! Just… not anywhere near enough to finish it because my laptop went to the shop and I was writing on my ipad 🫠

Cryptmother is still struggling. It’s hard to write silly goofy necromancer girlie pop when things are so extremely not. It’s hard to rewrite when the feedback from people who have “made it” feels like it amounts to why didn’t you just quit and write to market? I love her, your honor. I know that when it comes down to it, I want Cryptmother to exist and that’s all that matters… It just doesn’t make writing any easier, unfortunately.

Theoretical Defense… I mean… she continues to loom. Oceanic based fiction feels like a good summer thing, so, here’s hoping I can launch in June! This is the one I outlined to near death, so it really does feel like the minute I get a handle on everything else and some brain RAM opens up, I should be able to jump right in.

Abruptly did you seriously start another project in the midst of all that?

Yeah… I wanted to try participating in Wattpad’s Open Novella Contest. I have learned I don’t like posting on Wattpad. Also not sure I enjoy writing isekai but I am being difficult about it, so maybe it’s a me thing. I have… two weeks to finish this. I’d like to! I’d like to take it off wattpad and throw it on Ream as a reader magnet, because being stubborn about odd genres is what we aim for.

Goalposting for Q2

Rogue Deck Ritual - That’s the ONC thing. LitRPG about a girl getting isekai’d into her otome game and also pocket monsters are there, feels like it could be an okay reader magnet.

Cryptmother - We’re gonna be back up and posting chapters by Mother’s Day so help me Strexhin! Before that even, if you join my Ream or Patreon (but like fr I don’t expect anyone to until I get things back under control)

Undeadbeat - I think we’re shelving this bad boy until the fall. I plan to finish it, I just… Oof. Heavy.

Feral Godmother - Five! More! Chapters! And then I’d really like to throw it up on itch and Campfire. I’ve been trying to read more on Campfire and while I hate their subscription model for writers, the reading app with the fun lil extras is great.

So… You know… it’s getting there. I don’t make things easy on myself. I will not be writing these weekly, that’s insane. I might do monthly at some point, I think I’d like to do a post mortem on Rogue Deck when it’s finished.
